Thursday...30 June 2011

Last day of the financial year. Tax time!
Surprise, it is cloudy, overcast and drizzling rain.....bloody sunny qld!
Do not like miserable weather. It makes me less than happy. Beginning to think we should  hire ourselves out as drought busters. No matter where we go it is grey and miserable. Totally fed up!
Spent some time with my neice during the week. Had two lovely days with her while Himself went back down the track to visit his brother and get an aerial bracket welded onto the ute. The neice and I chatted our heads off and I got to see how talented she is. She runs her own dress making business and is quite busy with it. Lots of lovely clothes in various stages of design or remake. I slept in a spare room surrounded by wedding gowns! And there I was thinking I was finished with them.........
We spent today in camp but plan to go out and about again tomorrow, weather permitting. There is an orchid place that may be worth a look.

Monday...27 June 2011

Still in Mackay. Not doing much, just having some lovely down time,  being lazy, sitting here watching the world go around and past us.
Himself is planning a quick trip back down the road to get something done on the car and while he is gone I am going to stay with my neice.
We will play catch up, show each other photos of our kids and grandkids and maybe share a bottle or two of wine.  Really looking forward to the experience.
At least it will be quiet at her place, she backs onto a school and it is school holidays in Qld.  Our caravan park is seeing more and more families coming in as time goes on. Some are staying some are in transit to other places for their holiday.
The weather is threatening rain.....havent they had enough of that stuff over this side yet?????

Saturday...25 June 2011

Did I tell you that the two main activities here in Mackay are mining and sugar cane. They are going to have a particularly good cane crop this year. The stuff around here is at least 8-10 feet tall! Was watching a lady walk her dogs near the crop that is visible from the caravan park and she looked like a little girl as she walked past the crop which was at least twice her height.
Today we went to a shopping centre on the north side of town and after I got my nails repaired, we went around to my neice's place for a quick hello and cuppa. We ended up staying with her for the afternoon and going out to dinner at the local club near her place before finally coming home around 8pm. Just as well we did not go for a long hello!!!
She and her sister both live here in Mackay although her sister is away in Brisbane right now. Bet  she heard I was coming and ran away.........
Their mother in Townsville (my half sister) has had a spot of ill health, but I am told she had surgery and this has helped her immensely.
Tomorrow himself will catch up with the bloke he knows in this town.

Mackay show day!
Nothing to report, stay in camp day.

Wednesday...22 June 2011

Had a bit of sleep between trains. Where we parked last night was by accident right next to one of the busiest railway lines in Queensland! We tried to get a berth at the local caravan park but it was full so we parked up in a free camp area down the road a bit. Lots of company and the scenery was stunning. Had the Great Barrier Reef right outside the door. And Qld rail right behind our bed.......
But of course there is always a negative and we found that after we had made camp. Never mind it did let up a bit from midnight to crack of dawn!
Sunrise over the Coral Sea would have been fantastic, if I had not crawled back into bed after the first train of the day and stay there until the second train........
Travelled a couple of hours up the road to Mackay today.
Same little park we were in last year. Different part of it. Shame really as the back paddock of last year was open space and flat as a pancake. The proper site we have this year is not a bar on it, but they are doing stuff to the back paddock as they need to genuinely expand their park.
Still we seem to have found sunny Qld. Todays temp was 25c, very nice. Still a bit cool overnight but warm during the day so we will stay a few days here.
When we get our personal needs and the washing done etc, I shall call the two cousins I have here and play catch up again.
Tomorrow is Mackay show day and most of the shops are closing. Show day holiday and the start of the Qld school holidays too.......how exciting!

Tuesday...21 June 2011

Shortest day of the year!
Nice lazy start to the day today. Lovely driving with the sun coming through the windscreen, making the car nice and warmmmmmmmm.
We travelled from our free camp near Tannum Sands to Rockhampton. Would have stopped and bought lunch etc, but most towns who would like us grey nomads to stop and spend money forget to give us somewhere we can stop! Bit hard to park our 15mt long vehicle in the average carpark or along the parallel parking beside roads. Even if we were rude enough to park over several parking spaces we first have to find several that are vacant all at once!!! And you could put money on the odds that someone would park right near us in such a way as to prevent us moving when we are ready to leave.
Never mind, we continued up the road to yet another free rest area and I made good healthy sandwiches myself.

We decided to head for McKay but I got tired before we got there, so we are parked up in another free camp in a place called Claireview. This is the view from our camp. It is the Coral Sea and the Whitsunday Islands. Life sure is tough today! McKay tomorrow........maybe.

Monday...20 June 2011

Happy Birthday to son-in-law, Murray.
Well today we packed up and what a performance that was! Half the caravan park came to watch or have a last minute look inside. Couple of blokes wanted to watch Himself actually hitching the van to the ute. Felt like selling tickets and of course it slowed down the actual packing procedure considerably. Then we had to double check to make sure we had actually done it all considering the stoppages.......
Headed off up the road with plans to stop at Agnes Waters or 1770 but they were all booked out, so we continued to Tannum Sands, but guess what? All booked out, so here we sit in a free camp on the highway on our way to Rockhampton.
On a more somber note, we saw our first road accident today. Four wheel drive and caravan rolled. Car landed on roof and slid off the road into the trees. We have been told that one person was air lifted out by ambulance helicopter and the other occupant of the vehicle was moved by ambulance which left the accident without any bells and lights.........
Johnny came out from Tannum Sands to say hello and have tea with us. Good of him to visit as we could not go into town with the big rig unless we had somewhere to put it.
The Bruce Highway is a very busy road. We sit here listening to the sound of the traffic, mostly trucks, as they rush past us in the night. Hoping it will ease a bit before much longer so that we can get some sleep tonight. Also hoping it does not get down too low on the temperature guage tonight.

Sunday...19 June 2011

Another lazy day. Changed the bed and washed the dirty sheets. Had to chase the sun around to get them dry. The clothes lines are attached to the side of the ablution block and are in shade by 1pm! Very much the early bird getting the sun here.
After lunch we went out to Ria's again to have one last cuppa and chat. Has been wonderful to see her and Kevin and their neighbours again. Like all good friends we picked up right where we left off 15 years ago and chatted our heads off. Lots of catching up and plenty of news about people we used to know in Para.
Tomorrow is moving day again. No idea yet where we are going, but Bundaberg is only an hour or so up the road. Just been told the plan is to go to 1770 (yes its a town). It is about half an hour north of Bundaberg. Should be a nice easy day's travelling.

Saturday...18 June 2011

Stay at home day today. Bit of rest time. Did the shopping. Went down the road and looked at all the boats in the harbour. All the ferries that go to Fraser Island too. Even went to Bunnings.......
Mother-in-law of youngest child passed away today.....our condolences to all the family.
Last evening and again tonight we sat here in the caravan park and watched millions of fruit bats flying past on their way to their nightly feeding grounds where ever that may be. It was like watching a war movie with millions of planes going overhead! They just kept coming. The line was hundreds of metres wide and the bats passed over us like silent black cloud. Fascinating!!!! No I am not up early enough to watch them coming back to roost for the day where ever that may be either. Hope it is not in the trees directly above our van!
Glad to hear my sisters hubby is home from his stint in CCU at Royal Melbourne Hospital. Time to slow down a bit mate...(pun intended!). You can pick up the pace (maker) in six weeks.....lol.
No plans yet for tomorrow but am sure we will find things to do to fill the day.

Friday...17 June 2011

Huge day! Up early as always to take my pills then had a bit  of a tidy up. Even got the vacuum cleaner out of its hiding place.
Ria & Kevin arrived just before lunch, bringing with them fresh eggs from their own chooks and a  hand of ladyfinger bananas......gold. I love bananas but the price right now is really expensive so to be given an entire hand is treasure. I love my bananas as I feel that the potasium in them helps with preventing leg cramps.  Big, big thank you.
Then we all went down along the Hervey Bay esplanade to have lunch overlooking the bay. Beautiful. Nice and sunny with a light breeze blowing. Lunch was yummy and the service perfect. Can definately recommend Peppers on the beachfront in Hervey Bay.
Kevin then took us on a full afternoons sightseeing around the district. We went from one bay to the next, even stopped for a nice cold glass of wine/beer at one, saw some truely stunning real estate and finished at Burrum Heads.
Thank you so much to them both for a wonderful day. We are so impressed with the scenery and weather that we have booked for another few days.

Thursday...16 June 2011

Well we finally left Caloundra.
Our thanks to the family for an awesome time. We really enjoyed our stay and will be back.
On the way out we popped in to visit our friends from Moree, the ones with the lovely little Jack Russell.
He fitted a gas bayonet for us and we fitted a new set of stabilizer legs for him (no I mean for his caravan!).
We continued on our merry way, stopping here and there, and finally ended up in Hervey Bay. First up was a quick hello to an old friend, yep, been out to Ria's place and drank gallons of tea playing catch up with her and her hubby and her best friend who also moved  here from Para. Tomorrow they are coming into town and we are doing lunch and a bit of sightseeing.
Note to self: tomorrow make sure I see the ocean which I believe is somewhere around here.........

Monday...13 June 2011

Too tired to blog last night. Spent the day tidying up our little camp ready for a move on Tuesday.
Went to lunch with the daughter and family for one last meal. It has been wonderful being here for nearly two weeks. We have done heaps of stuff and seen a lot of the family. Dicky Beach Caravan Park is location. location, location when it comes to being close to them. It is also located right on the beach, we did walk along a bit of the beach one day but in general we have been too busy or it has been such miserable weather that the beach got overlooked a lot. There is even a famous ship wreck which is down to the skeletal remains of the hull left poking out of the sand. Very picturesque to look at. Guess the original occupants of the boat did not think so!
Our thanks to our daughter and her family for such a wonderful time. All the members of the family, the daughter, son-in-law and the three grandchildren went out of their way to make us welcome and to include us in their family activities. We particularly enjoyed watching the grandchildren at their sport,............ even when it was freezing cold.
And we enjoyed all the home cooking and sitting around the campfire with a glass of wine just chilling out, very relaxing.
Monty gets a special mention for being such a wonderful puppy. He is cute and he behaves beautifully and knows his basic commands. One day he may even obey them! The two cats probably look forward to that day.......
We will miss you but we carry all the special moments and memories with us. Thank you all again for a lovely time.

Sunday...12 June 2011

Up super early again to be ready to leave before 8am for the big drive down through Brisbane to Willowbank Raceway which is south of Ipswich which in turn is SW of Brisbane. All up about 150kms one way.
Overcast and drizzle all the way.
Got there and wouldn't you know it, too wet, meeting cancelled!
All that planning, all that driving, we stayed in this area extra time, (more park fees), specially to go to this drag racing meet and it cost a fortune for the grandstand seats right on the start line........and all wasted.
They are rescheduling the meet for some time in July and the tickets will be valid for that meet....great if you are going to be here. Ah well guess the tickets will light an extremely expensive bonfire somewhere one day.
Himself walked the entire pits area anyway, checking out the various bits of glorious machinery, poking his nose into tents as the pits crews went about the business of packing up.
There was a mob there all the way from Perth that he knew so he stopped for a chat.
Gotta feel for them, it was the first time they had hauled their particular funny car across the nullabor for this meet. All that planning, all that driving to get there, all the camping out to be at the particular site to babysit their entry, and bang, no meet, come back in a month.
When we saw them they were mothballing their car and had one of the crew in  town (Ipswich) trying to buy plane tickets to take them home for a month then back again to try at the the next meet. Very expensive to fly an entire crew Brisbane to Perth return when you had already spent money to get there, for a meet that was cancelled.
We came back to base via Glass House Mountains to say hello to our globe trotting friends who just got back from a visit to China and the Yangtze river. We were lucky to see them, and as always very pleased, they are some of our most favourite people. Always full of useful information.
Not sure what we are doing tomorrow. Proabably the washing and general housekeeping to get us ready for departure on Tuesday. With luck we will see the family before we leave, now that we have some more time up our sleeves.
Have been trying since yesterday to put a comment on my own blog and keep getting booted back to the sign in page every time I try. So I dutifully give my email and pin and it boots me back to the sign in page again and again. This is after I logged in successfully in the first place to read my blog to see if there are any comments I should reply to!!!!!. I need to change the entire settings. Maybe I can rig it to self implode!!!!!
No wonder you lot are not leaving me any comments.
If it is that hard then why bother to give me feed back.
I am fed up with things that are too damn complicated to use. I want to reply to comments. I want to be able to do it in a flash. I am already logged into MY BLOG so why do I have to log in again to leave a comment? Why foolish idiot made it this way???

PS:The comment I wanted to leave says, look again, you were given the credit!

Saturday...11 June 2011

Up early again today to join the grandson in an away tennis game  up the coast at Maroochydore. 8.30am game, (was to  have been 11am but got changed). Doubt the time of day would have mattered. Was bitterly cold and blowing a gale straight in off the coast. The poor kids were looking blue out there on the court in their tennis gear. By the second set the ones on the next court were wearing parkas! No joke it was that cold. Our lot braved the cold and battled on. Serving was hit and miss. They would throw the ball nice and straight and the wind would move it around before it came down again for hitting. Even set shots that should have won a point would blow out before reaching the ground on the other side of the net. Big points to our team, they managed to soldier on and finally won the day.
Did not get to see the grandaughter playing as her game was a home game, so the daughter took her and the son-in-law took the grandson to their games. Grandaughter had inbuilt audience so we went to the grandsons game to make up audience numbers. Daughter said she umpired wearing her jacket.

After that we went ten pin bowling. We were much warmer inside the bowling place and they had the heaters cranked up. Interesting to play again when it has been at least ten years or more since we last played this game.
The grandkids were of course good, the granson plays ten pin bowling as one of his sports so of course made all but his father, look like learners. The kids played well, the grandparents not so good. We could not (would not?) bend very well to release the bowl. Himself beat me and got a strike so is reasonably pleased with his effort. I did ok for a sometimes player, only a dozen or so gutterballs in two games!!! (No strikes for me).
Back to the daughters place for lunch then we went into town to do a spot of shopping and had coffee at Gloria Jeans.
Dinner was apricot chicken done in the slow cooker, and more chocolate self saucing pudding, seems they liked it. Then it was fond goodbyes as we may not see them again.
We are here for another two days but are going to Brisbane for the two days to attend the drag races at Willowbank. We will take a bag and stay somewhere if possible to save the long drive back each night.

Friday...10 June 2011

I sewed, I sewed all day. What I created was awesome.
Now I need to blog. I am too tired to blog, I do not want to blog. I am not going to blog.
I am going to bed.
PS: Had a really good day again with daugher, she helped a bit with the sewing.
Then she fed us a wonderful lamb roast done in the clay pastry. Juicy and tender.....yum.
She learned it from one of her sisters!
I cooked self saucing choc pudding for afters. None left!
Done.

Thursday...9 June 2011

Very quiet day today. Really, really tired after yesterday. Not bouncing like we used to!
Stayed in camp all morning, doing little jobs, chasing mould, washing van roof, adding extension to aerial for tv, seems to be  much much better.
Went out after lunch to post some mail. Had to go to the next suburb to find a post office.
Came home and managed to rip a nail off!! Big ouch! Blood and crying ouch. Pulled off one of my happy nails from Bendigo. Very painful. If you have not done this yet, try really hard to never ever do it.......
So painful that I sat down and filed all the others down really short.
Himself went down to Caboolture to find a F Truck shop for a few spare bits, I stayed home and cried.
Tea was home cooked rustic pumpkin soup. Rustic means I mashed it and did not put it through the blender. Too hard to get the blender out of the cupboard and too sore bumping finger on everything in the cupboard so gave up!
Finished with some of my sisters stewed nectarines with cream left from the soup. Very tasty..
Tomorrow I sew.

Wednesday...8 June 2011

Wow what a massive day for us.
We got up while it was still dark to prepare and be ready on time to go with friends to Brisbane to the Caravan and Camping show. Only ten minutes late picking up the friends. Good run down to Brisbane, the traffic was not too bad, only one or two patches of roadworks that held us up but nothing to be a serious bother.
Good organisation at the parking end of proceedings. We were parked on the oval over the road from the caravan show. I believe it was the showgrounds oval. They even provided stop and go people to help us cross the road against the traffic! Brilliant. Parking to admission gate queue, 2 minutes.
Now one small bitch here people. Why oh why do people try to pay with their bankcard after having gone past not one but five signs saying that only cash will be accepted at this gate and that if you wish to use your bankcard please proceed further down the fence to a gate some 50mtrs away that does have an eftpos machine???  Many tried, many held the queue up, many said that all gates should have these facilities, I felt like hissing and booing at them and I think others would have joined me.
Now we got lucky and entered the exhibition via the gate right next to the fifth wheeler display. Instant gratification! Love the new models.
Then it was on and on and on. We walked miles, through this building and around that one and up the stairs to the top of the next one. We looked in countless caravans, all with their own special appeal and features. We got good ideas, we oohhed and aahhed. We ate, we drank, we walked again......ALL DAY! Everytime we turned a corner there was more 'must see' stuff.  Really it is a show that requires at least two days to see it all. The boys did the technical stuff, the girls did coffee and cake!
At the end of the day we were loaded down with pamphlets and information and ideas. Some money also changed hands and a few bits and pieces made their way into the ute for the homeward trip (80kms).......which took 3 HOURS!!!!!!!!
Initially the hold up was standard peak hour Brisbane in the outbound lanes. Then it came to a complete standstill several times. We passed a sign saying the right lane should merge into the centre one as there was an accident ahead. We saw no sign of any accidents but eventually after Caboolture the flow improved. Wooopee.
Then we came to the trimming of trees beside the road, being done in the dark in three separate places, causing yet more traffic stoppages. Why in heavens name would you tree trim in the dark beside a busy highway when all the animals are asleep in the tree?????? Perhaps the good, kind, council workers were rehousing all the animals before trimming their tree.......... then putting back into their beds before moving on to the next tree!!!!!!!!!!!.
Did hear some seriously funny stuff on the UHF radio as the truckies let off a bit of steam during the delays.
Got a lovely warm welcome from the little Jack Russell called Mea when we got back. She was very pleased to see her owners, mostly because they were late serving her tea! And me because I give such good scratches now I have these fancy new nails...
Our thanks to her owners for suggesting we go to the show together and for being such good company all day, certainly made a big day more interesting. Four pairs of eyes are definately better than two. Very nice people and we hope they keep in touch and that we run into them again somewhere in the big paddock, not too far down the track.
Now it is time for a belated happy hour then bed to rest the weary weary bones, feet and legs.
Night all! Alligators........

Tuesday...7 June 2011

Had the bestest night out ever. We took the daughter and son in law and grandchildren out to dinner at the local surf club. One of the funniest nights out ever. We walked into a trivia night, huge fun. Nanna got them all wrong, the husband and kids did better! We lost but we enjoyed doing it.
The children spent a small fortune on the chocolate machine but still did not win any chocolates!!!
The dinner deal was inclusive of bottles of wine,,,,,,we made whooppee!
Early night tonite, gotta get up and go to Brisbane tomorrow and walk my feet off......who has the asprin????

Monday...6 June 2011

Did not blog last night, was worn out from a totally awesome day.
I spent the day with my daughter and we walked, we talked, we shopped, we ate lunch. She drove me everywhere I thought I needed to be......and more.
My legs still ache from the walking but it was a special day and I thank her for her time, so appreciated and so special to me when we have not been able to do stuff like this very often because we lived on opposite sides of the country.
This whole visit has been one long memory stick for me and I thank the family for providing me with the memorys to keep and cherish.
Huge thank you to my wonderful husband who bought us here and is making sure I get to spend the time with them and the grandchildren.
We not done yet people, there is still lots more to do, lucky me.

Sunday...5 June 2011

Today began with the family coming to visit and play tennis on the park court. Then the grandaughters stayed on with us and did some beading with their dear old nana. We had lunch and made some ear rings and necklaces and bracelets then it was already time to take them home. The time flew past for me and I hope it was fun for them.
We took them home then went out to see our new friends so that we knew where to find them on Wednesday when we pick them up to go to the caravan and camping show in Brisbane.
They are staying with some seriously funny people, who also generously allowed us to join in their gathering. Thank you it was a funny afternoon. AND I got to see little Mea again (the best behaved and quietest Jack Russell I have ever met!).
Was a bonus day for me, time with the grandaughters and a favourite pooch!
Came home and had dinner then off to bed with me, sort of late nana nap. Have been really tired of late, am thinking the medication I am on for the shingles is to blame. Well I hope so, only other answer would be old age and I not ready to do that bit just yet.........
Now I am up late listening to the pounding of the surf over Dicky Beach. Quite noisy tonight.

Saturday...4 June 2011

Ok back on track. Got a bit confused with that last entry. Yes, yes, I know I am always confused these days but if you were permanently travelling in circles you too would be having trouble knowing what day it is.......and what you did with it!
Today we got up super early (before breakfast! and before the sun) to attend the grandchildrens Saturday sporting fixtures. Eldest grandson got lucky, his tennis opponents knew they were not up to the job and forfeited. Score one win to us, and another to grandson who got to sleep in...lucky boy.
Off we went to eldest grandaughters tennis meet. Our luck to not have a home game! Way up into the forest on the hills we went. Brrrrrrrrr. Very, very nice grammar school, beautifully kept gardens. And to be fair the sun did eventually come out and was nice and warm, but not until it climbed up over the tall tall forest trees. No win for the team there, but some very impressive rallys in the singles and talking tactics during the doubles.
Home for a quick lunch and then it was off to the youngest child's netball competition. Lots of courts run with military precision and lots of girls & boys running around. The colors of the team uniforms were as pretty as a rainbow. Also noticed that the game balls matched the 'home' teams uniform colors, very interesting.
The game was four quarters of very hard fought nail biting stuff. Who ever said that netball was a non contact sport obviously had never seen the game actually being played. Youngest childs team eventually came out winners, but they had to work hard for the win. Seriously fast and furious stuff.
Well done to all of this batch of grandchildren. We saw good sportsmanship and people giving 100%, way to go kids.......
After that it was home for a cuppa then the netballer went to her musical theatre class. We got a sneak peak at this years theatre production, most exciting.
Came home and had a nap to get over it all. Totally worn out we were having watched all that sport.
Daughter came over after tea for coffee and to sort out everyones plans for tomorrow.
Tennis courts are booked and grandaughters want to do some beading with their dear old granny. Will be a busy day full of fun we hope. Looking forward to it.......Love my beading.....lol.

Friday... 3 June 2011

Happy birthday to our grandaughter Jessie who is 12 today.

Jessie had a party and we were invited but graciously declined as she also had half a dozen of her besties coming and we thought maybe that many teenagers would be too much for little old us!!
We did however go for dinner and that was lovely. Had it sitting around the roaring log fire in the backyard. Very pleasant. Was an early night for everyone as this partying stuff can be quite tiring.
Also went out to lunch today with our new friends and that was nice too, sitting in the Dicky Beach Surf Lifesaving Club watching the waves rolling in.
Lunch and dinner pretty much used up most of the day!
Oops I forgot, also got up nice and early to watch some of the grandkids play tennis with their dad and an aunt. Practice for their Saturday comps.
In our caravan park is a mob of bush turkeys. They are interesting to watch. We threw them some old stale multigrain bread and they seemed to like picking the seeds out of it.

Thursday...2 June 2011

Happy birthday to our grandson Ashley who is 14 today.

Good luck to his dad, who started his new FIFO job on the Gorgon Gas Project today.

Another good day for us. Did a grocery grab this morning, mostly because I was desperate for a hair color and wouldn't you know it, I got lucky and got a "two for" deal on it.
Home we came and had last nights left overs for our lunch, then Himself got busy with all those bits and bobs he got yesterday and I disappeared into the bathroom to make myself glamorous.
Ever noticed that timing is everything people?
Himself got out of a very tight cupboard after fitting the new hot water element about the same time as I finished applying my hair color, so both of us looked a bit the worst for wear, me dripping color and him just plain dripping sweat when a voice said 'hello????".
It was our new friends from the caravan park at Moree, the ones with the beautifully behaved Jack Russell.  They are in the same area as us, but way over the other side of it and had come to see if we would like to do lunch one day and go with them to the Brisbane Caravan & Camping show next week.  We will definately do lunch tomorrow and chat about the camping show.  I mean who would want to miss a date with Ken James one of the original actors in that great aussie show from the early 60's......Skippy, skippy, skippy the bush kangaroo!  He demonstrates the EcoPot which is a slow cooker that works without power.
What a lovely surprise it was to have them drop in. Really looking forward to lunch tomorrow and then we have a dinner date because another grandchild is having a birthday.
Will definately need a holiday when we leave here!
More good news today. The brother who got shingles at the same time as me,  but in his eye,  is improving, still needs to stay on his medication for a bit longer as there is still some infection in there, worth it bro if it saves your sight,  I hear we both have the same surname so we can both get whacked at the same time!!!  Bring on the good pills.....
Note to self, must check on the older brother, the one who had the stroke. Wonder how he is doing now that he has been home for a  while.
Keep smoking Sis, you are the only fit and healthy (??) one of us all. Ha Ha Ha!
The aunt in Western Australia is home from her trip to Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos for long enough  to repack her cases. This time she is off to Stockholm, Moscow, London, Singapore and home, then with hardly time to draw breath,  she is going on a cruise to Norfolk Island and Suva etc. AND she is 70+. Goooooo Gwen.
Our youngest has finally made it home after six weeks down south, looking after her sick mother-in-law, just in nice time to tidy her house ready for the move to the big smoke.
The entire mob is on the go. I always said this family would go somewhere.............

Wednesday...1 June 2011

Pinch and punch first day of the month!
Is also officially the first day of winter .
I think winter missed that memo, she got going a few weeks ago!!!!!!!!
Today Himself went to Gympie and came home with all manner of exciting stuff and some spare parts for our caravan. We have a new element for the hot water thingy, this means that once it is fitted we can have hot showers all the time in our van instead of occasionally having to head to the ablution blocks with all the other campers.  We can now but we have to pay for the gas, but if we are in a caravan park then we will be able to hook to the electricity which is included in our park fees.
He also got a new element thing for the fridge that will make it fully 240v instead of the current set up with an inverter on it. He got wheel nuts and studs and grease for the slides.....oh he had a marvellous time, I have not been game yet to ask what it all cost.
While he did that I did the washing. Yep boring I know but someone has to do it! Started at 8am with bright blue skies and as soon as I put the first lot into the water in the machine, the sun packed it in for the day. I did hang the washing but most of it went into the dryer at 4.30pm still wet. It did not rain, it just did not get warm enough to dry clothes. Frustrating.
After that I cooked up a storm making Thai Green Curry and we went to dinner at the daughters house again only this time there were other visitors besides us. Was lovely to see her visitors, exceptional people and so nice to be around. I genuinely like seeing them each time I am in the area. They may be my son-in-laws old friends but they are wonderfully kind to me and mine as well. We all had a good night and the food combinations were most pleasing (everyone bought a casserole type meal). We topped that off with dessert of Apple Crumble and Chocolate Pie with cream or ice cream.......Divine. THEN, we also got tea and coffee served by my wonderful grandchildren before they went to bed (school night).
Son-in-law has a permanent hole in his back yard for camp fires and we had one tonight, there is something special about a good roaring fire, other than its heat of course. We did have a goodly supply of marshmallows but chose to forgo them as one grandchild cannot have them owing to new braces.......
Last time we came to this area, another couple we know were overseas and came home only two days before we were due to leave the area ourselves. Yep they are at it again, here we are and wouldn't you know it, they are in China and due home the day after we leave here. Sorry N & N, next time! (PS if you are home!)
