The Journey Continues...

The Journey Continues...

Big day today, walked at least 3 kilometres to the local supermarket and back, then took a extra walk to the beach lookout to watch the sunset. My little legs do not like being taken out of retirement!!!  Karen, have not been out to dinner at the local pub, but have walked past it twice in the last week. Have been doing lots of walking around the town and up to the lookouts at the mouth of the river and loving the views. Whales have been seen here but sadly they are not due just yet so we may miss seeing them. Plans to visit the bird park and the famous Kalbarri gorges etc one day but Himself is busy building stuff with the bloke we are visiting and the pair of them are two happy little beavers.

A nice quiet day today, walked to the shop for the sunday paper then up to the look out to watch the waves crashing into the beach. Must have been rough out there last night as I could hear them from two blocks back off the beach in our little home. Watched the local jetboat ride go out of the harbour onto the open ocean and then back again with a payload of happy tourists.

Fitness Alert

Walked down to the beach again today, wind was blowing a gale and waves rolling and crashing but the sun was also shining.  Got a bit wind burnt but the sights and sounds were magnificent. About now the whales start migrating along the coast so who knows maybe one day there will be a whale bigger than me out there!!! All this walking is of course doing me no end of good, I can actually walk more than two steps without puffing but my leg muscles are just a wee bit sore.  Oh well onward and upward....
Himself and Peter are helping each other with various little projects and seem to be having a fine old time with their secret mens business. They come when called for meals but stay out of the house most of the day.

Fine and sunny today in downtown Kalbarri. Walked to the beach, watched some ppl surfing, tried to walk in the sand but kept bogging down and my feet were blistering from the friction of the sand, gave up and went up to a look out and watched the boats coming into the mouth of the mighty murchison river.  Will be pleased if the weather continues.

Quiet day

Not a lot to report today. Finished the washing. Walked to the shops, looked around came home. BOM put out a gale force wind warning for this area but wasn't too bad. Only got a sprinkling while walking so not much complaining today. Things are quieter now and the van has stopped rocking violently so can actually read computer screen, as it is not blurring like yesterday.

Kalbarri

Arrived in Kalbarri lunch time Tuesday. Peter & Himself took Peter's van down to Geraldton today to leave it a the dealer for some warranty work and do a spot of essential shopping. Helen and I decided that weather permitting we would start walking regularly each day .... ha ha ha. We left just on lunchtime and got as far as the mouth of the Murchison river where it meets the Indian Ocean, went ooooohhhhhh aaaaahhhhhh and down came the rain!!!  We both got totally wet, and then had to walk home again all squelchy. Am now sitting here in our van in their yard with the van rocking and rolling from the massive winds outside. Hoping tomorrow will be a touch warmer with more sun shine as am becoming desperate to get some washing done.

Day One on the Road

So today we finally hooked the van up, left the caravan park and ventured out onto the open road.  No problems with the van the car or the driver!!! But it would seem that the top speed of a Winnebago is 80kms. Got stuck behind Winnebago's twice and a very slow horse float as well.  Could not beleive how slow they were, open road and they were putting along without a care in the world holding up traffic for miles behind them, bloody inconsiderate nomads!  Are camping beside the road tonite, our first campout, most exciting. Even had a visitor for dinner. Ok thats it for today, running on battery and dont want to use it all up before I check facebook and the mail...Cheers

Hey Hey It's Raining

It's raining it's pouring. Good test of the structural integrity. This translates to no water coming inside as yet! On the plus side the van is being washed nice and clean ready for the trip. And those who know how much a scardy cat I am will know how I feel when I say thank goodness for the in house plumbing.

Today was used to tidy up lose ends here in Perth, gave the post office the authorization for mail collection by the kids, paid the rego on the car so that we do not end up embarrassed somewhere in the great beyond should we be asked for a valid rego! Bought a super dooper jack which I am reliably informed will be most handy should we need to lift either the car or the van. Got good old Telstra to update our phones and our phone plans,,,damn shame they didn't update my brain so that using the new phone was hassle free.
