Now back to us and our travels. We have just spent six blissful days in the middle of nowhere at Pardoo roadhouse caravan park. After Pt Hedland Golf Course this was paradise. Power, water, grass, ablutions, sunshine; whats not to like. In fact we liked it so much we just parked up and chilled! Today we motored down the road and stopped at Sandfire, which was opened in 1970, got burnt down a couple of years ago and then before they could get back on their feet and were still serving petrol out of a makeshift kiosk, got blown away by a cyclone last year. Onward and upward, they totally rebuilt and re-opened in April 2010. Looks great. We did not stay as they still have a bare dirt parking lot type caravan park without shade. Shame really as everything else is brand new. Anyway we came on down to a free camp spot called Goldwire and hey presto, still the middle of nowhere, 150kms from Broome and we have mobile reception!!! (and shade). We will prop here until Tuesdsay morning and wander into Broome for our booking at the caravan park for four days. Good chance to do the washing, clean the van and revisit our favourite places in Broome. More updates and entries on Tuesday.

Sunday...18 July
40 years ago in a life defining moment, I became a mother for the first time. Yep once you become a mother thats it really, you are now a mother! Number of offspring regardless, once a mother thats it for life. Your world alters so dramatically. Life is never quite the same. but then again most mothers would not wish it any other way. All those wonderful 'firsts'. First sleepless night, first tooth, first haircut, first day at school, no matter where you are on the planet and no matter how much you say otherwise a mothers life rotates around her children. Happy birthday Cindy.
