Thursday...19 May 2011

Not a lot to report. Has everyone noticed that when you are ill it seems to chew up your entire day just managing the illness and its side effects and treatment? Get up take pills which make me dopey (more than is normal!) then back to bed and sleep for several more hours. The days are flying past.
Was a big day on Tuesday. On Tuesday I made it out of bed and went down the street for lunch at the local cafe with the favourite aunt and uncle and then came home and slept for nearly six hours.
Wednesday I was up long enough to travel the 50kms out of town to the aunt and uncles property for lunch and a nice little visit then it was back into town, take some more pills and go back to bed. Three of my pills are taken every 8 hours but the fourth pill is taken every 5 hours. Very hard to keep track of when you are groggy from the illness and the effect of the various pills as well. Should not complain too much, they do not stop me hurting but they do take the edge off the worst of it all.
Tomorrow,, oops thats really later today now, we will be moving on, probably not too far as we are not sure how long I will be able to sit in the car but we will go as far as is possible. Cannot be in the sun if we cannot go northward. Was minus 3 in Condo this morning. And I know this because like now I am up in the wee small hours to take my pills!!!!  Good health to you all.

Monday...16 May 2011

My foster fathers birthday today....he is now 84...AND I missed calling him! Well maybe he will forgive me when I call tomorrow and explain that I was in hospital. When we were in Canberra I was complaining to everyone that my back was in permanent lock up cramp. Jolly painful.
We left Canberra and travelled to Forbes for one night then next day travelled onto Condobolin. Had a phone call from one of the foster brothers who wanted to know where I was, seems he had just passed us out there on the road going in opposite directions. Definately small world people.
Got to Condo and my levels of pain were not pleasant but I continued with the planned agenda, dinner at the local RSL club to see the favourite aunt and uncle again, and a couple of other relatives. Even got lucky as the entertainment was a group we had seen previously and liked. By the time we went home I was in severe pain so went to bed and when I got up in the morning it was way worse so took me down to the local hospital, they diagnosed shingles and tucked me into bed for a few days. Bulk pills later thet had the pain stopped but also had me being violently ill, seems I am intolerant to anything strong enough to stop any serious pain! Having thrown up their hands I was allowed to return to my previous pain levels and discharged. So now I have heaps of pills, none of which are actually going to fix my problem or pain but may let me continue to function whilst still muttering four letter words under my breathe!!!! Shingles take any where from a few days to a few months to work their way though the system, and guess what, they can return........
Another day or two here then hopefully on the road again to take my mind off the constant hurting.

Herself now spending some quality time in hospital. Should be out tomorrow and blog back up again.
Nothing too serious, just needs some heavy duty pain killers!!

Monday...29 Nov

Another update from The Parents

Still in Condo, still at the farm, currently Dad is helping with the harvest and Mum is helping with the feeding of the hungry workmen. Mum has also been gardening and has tomatoes and roses growing beautifully and has even mulched. And I stand by my elemental components stance.

However, Parents will be at Kim's place in Victoria for Christmas (+/- caravan depending on if the harvest is finished) and Bendigo for New Years. This means anyone wanting to send cards, presents, large sums of money, can either send them to ME to be sorted and uh passed on (must arrive before Dec 15 or they wont be dealt with til next year), or send them to Kim and they'll get them on Christmas day. Also, anyone sending things to the PO Box, last guaranteed clearance will be 16 December. It will then be checked sometime before the new year and forwarded on to Kim's or Charlie's depending on date but it wont be by me so cant guarantee dates and if you want them to get your cards then its better to send to Kim.

Feel free to email me if you need the address loftus.stephanie@gmail.com

Sunday... 31 October

In town for a quick visit to catch up with long lost relatives who have gathered for a wedding. Having fun on the farm, working hard. Will be in Victoria for the Xmas period. We have been sourcing information to access the internet out there in the wilderness and we hope to get time soon to travel the couple of hundred kms to somewhere that stocks the necessary bits to acheive the impossible!!! Would not be holding your breathe waiting though. ..........

Friday...29 October

Just an update from The Parents.

They are in Condo and probably will be until the caravan has decomposed back to its original elements. Mum thinks she'll get out of there before planting the new crops next year, I have my doubts. Dad is currently helping with shearing and has just agreed to stay for harvest. Now I aint a farm girl but I'm pretty sure next after that is spraying and then ploughing and gosh, if you've done all that you might as well stick around for seeding.

No mobile reception and no internet but they do have a mailbox so you can send mail c/o the name of the farm and it'll be delivered 3 days a week.

And the weather seems to have improved so life is good.

Sunday...3 October

Kim & Stephens wedding anniversary.  We arrived in Condobolin on Tuesday and out at Aunty Joans place there is no mobile reception which wipes out our phones AND our internet, hence no blog (but ahhh the blissful silence). Have come into town today to visit with Dianne who is here for the weekend from her place in Orange.
We are having a fun time at Aunty Joans and Keith has been making himself useful helping out on the farm. Getting a little sick of the rain which seems to be following us whereever we go lately.
We are planning to stay here a few weeks at least till the end of October,  to have a serious visit with them. If anyone needs us desperately enough all our kids have Aunty Joans (NSW)phone number..
See you all the next time I come into town.....
